WELCOME TO AUFO - Austin, TX

Welcome to Arcade UFO, the only Japanese-style Game Center in Texas!

Our goal is to bring you the newest and most interesting arcade titles from Japan, Korea, the USA and other countries while providing a haven for the fighting game, music game and racing game communities.

At the same time, we respect the origin of arcades and always try to feature a few great classic games with our limited space.

We opened Arcade UFO to follow in the footsteps of the legendary Einstein's Arcade (R.I.P.). Our goal is to continue Austin's 20+ year tradition of community-based video arcades.

We welcome gamers of all ages! Alcoholic beverages are not served nor allowed for consumption at the arcade.

We’ve had a busy few weeks, but it’s time to ramp things up!

- We’ve got our next SSF4 Ranbat Series coming up starting on Sunday, October 24th.  We’ll be continuing the series weekly, every Sunday starting at 7PM for a period of 6 weeks after which we’ll award prizes to the top placers!

- Super Street Fighter 4 players will be happy to know that we’ve reserved two sets of Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition.  That means we’ll have four cabinets set up with the game in Shuffle Play mode, just like the good ole’ vanilla SF4 days.

- In other fighting game news, did you know we now have The King of Fighters 13?  Arcade UFO was one of two arcades in the entire United States to import the game, and it’s truly a pleasant return to the SNK of old!  1P mode involves a healthy amount of dialogue before each fight, and the versus in the game moves very fast-paced, similar to King of Fighters XI.

- In non-fighting game news, we’ve been considering our next purchase and are heavily considering Pac-Man: Battle Royale. Check out this Youtube vid and see why we’re interested: it’s truly 4-player arcade madness.

- We also want to bring back a few classics soon, at the request of many! We only have one out-of-order machine at the moment, and when that gets taken care of shortly, expect Ms. Pac-Man and Donkey Kong to make a return at the bare minimum . . . we’re also in the process of acquiring a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles PCB!

  • That pac-man game looks awesome. It reminds me of bomberman and it’s a 4-player game? party time!

    I was wondering where donkey kong and Ms. Pac went off to.

    any chances of a Simpsons cabinet? :D

  • Have you guys bumped up the difficulty on Kof13? I’d love to give that game more of a shot, but the AI was so dumb I kept losing interest.

  • Please get Battle Royale! Please get Battle Royale! Please get Battle Royale!

  • @Roger:
    Yeah, Battle Royale does look great. The only problem is that Namco America is still debating whether or not the game will get official US distribution. Obviously that’s way more convenient for us than importing, but if it comes down to it, we know how to do that ;)

    We do still have the OG DK and Pacman cabs, but in the interest of saving space, we’re going to put the multi-classic PCB back in one of the Japanese cabs. There are also special versions of TMNT and Simpsons that work in these cabs (that don’t require 4 coin slots) so we’re working on acquiring these soon!

    @fin:
    Unfortunately, the new Gundam vs Gundam Extreme uses a system which requires a Japanese Internet connection at all times. The reason is that it runs on a new “lease” system where Namco gets paid 9 yen per every play at the arcade. It’s doubtful that they would allow us to use this system overseas. Our hope is that they release a new version of the PCB next year that doesn’t require this so that we could import again.

    @Rude:
    Nice suggestion, I can breeze through KOF13′s CPU quite easily now as well so maybe it’s time to bump the difficulty up ;) We should be getting the 1.1 patch in a week or two!

    Will do our best T__T

  • I would be really excited to see the addition of some more retro (80s and 90s) games to balance out the selection at Arcade UFO. Right now, I have to visit other places in Austin to get my retro arcade fix. Keep up the good work!
