WELCOME TO AUFO - Austin, TX

Welcome to Arcade UFO, the only Japanese-style Game Center in Texas!

Our goal is to bring you the newest and most interesting arcade titles from Japan, Korea, the USA and other countries while providing a haven for the fighting game, music game and racing game communities.

At the same time, we respect the origin of arcades and always try to feature a few great classic games with our limited space.

We opened Arcade UFO to follow in the footsteps of the legendary Einstein's Arcade (R.I.P.). Our goal is to continue Austin's 20+ year tradition of community-based video arcades.

We welcome gamers of all ages! Alcoholic beverages are not served nor allowed for consumption at the arcade.

Super Street Fighter II: Turbo

Super Street Fighter II Turbo (henceforth: ST), known in Japan as Super Street Fighter II X, is a game we actually had on the floor for a while around this same time last year. It only saw brief floor time, but more importantly, it never got a true Japanese head-to-head setup like our other featured fighters.

ST was the last Street Fighter II title released in the 90′s before Capcom branched out into the Alpha series and the originally ill-received Street Fighter III series. In the community, it is still known as the definitive Street Fighter II. Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix was released last year and breathed some more life into this title, giving it exposure to new blood, but to be perfectly honest, we think HD Remix stinks compared to the original.

Come give ST a go in its purest form, a full head-to-head arcade setup, and show everyone that you weren’t just that kid that could beat all your friends on the SNES controller. Oh yeah, it’s just 25 cents if you needed any more convincing.

Not at the moment, but our Capcom 18-in-1 machine has SF2: Anniversary Edition which is very similar. The machine usually displays either Gigawing or Puzzle Fighter; you can switch games on this machine by holding down the Start button to bring up a menu.

You can see a full list of what’s currently on the floor any time at http://www.arcadeufo.com/arcade.php. The 18-in-1 is marked as Puzzle Fighter, since that is its primary state!
