Welcome to Arcade UFO, the only Japanese-style Game Center in Texas!
Our goal is to bring you the newest and most interesting arcade titles from Japan, Korea, the USA and other countries while providing a haven for the fighting game, music game and racing game communities.
At the same time, we respect the origin of arcades and always try to feature a few great classic games with our limited space.
We opened Arcade UFO to follow in the footsteps of the legendary Einstein's Arcade (R.I.P.). Our goal is to continue Austin's 20+ year tradition of community-based video arcades.
We welcome gamers of all ages! Alcoholic beverages are not served nor allowed for consumption at the arcade.
RANBAT TOURNAMENT SERIES SEASON 7
Running from Sunday, August 26th until Sunday, Oct 28th, 2012! $2 entry, Live Stream and Prizes!
Arcade UFO’s 2nd SF4 Ranbat has drawn to a close, and Sinister-X from San Antonio has claimed his second victory with Dhalsim! Will the locals be able to step it up and stop him before the next event?
Now for sale at Arcade UFO are a very limited stock of data cards for DJ Max Technika! These cards feature a special edition artwork, and we were the only arcade in the US to procure these gems! Using one of these cards when playing DJ Max will give you access to Platinum Crew come December, an online server that will allow you to access your private data, game save data, ranking services, tournaments, events, point shops and more at the Platinum Crew website.
We should get more cards in the future, but this will be the only run of cards in the country featuring this artwork. Grab one before they’re all gone . . .
We’re open on Thanksgiving Day, of course. What better way to follow up your turkey dinner than a round of DJ Max?
The highly anticipated sequel to Blazblue: Calamity Trigger, arguably the most beautiful 2D game ever created, has hit shore here in Austin! Released Friday, Nov. 20th in Japan, Arcade UFO was one of the only enthusiasts in the West to secure a copy on launch.
Continuum Shift brings two new characters to the roster, Hazama and Tsubaki Yayoi. Hazama’s drive, “Ouroboros”, allows him to summon chains from his body. Tsubaki’s unique drive, called “Install”, powers up all of her special moves.
The all-new character artwork has a distinct manga/anime oriented style, and all backgrounds have been completely redrawn. The play style seems to have shifted more towards the Guilty Gear series. Bursting no longer makes your character take extra damage for the remainder of the round; it’s just a combo-breaker. Barrier gauge and guard breaking have been separated. Most importantly, damage has been drastically reduced overall so that the rounds have a much more methodical pace. These changes should yield a more balanced game than Calamity Trigger.
Continuum Shift also adds a much-welcomed Training Mode for learning new things with your character. To access this mode after inserting a coin, at the title screen, hold the C and D buttons together and press Start!
Take a gander at the screenshots below. What are you waiting for?
This was by far the most requested title to purchase with our help from Stride Gum after winning Save the Arcades.
It didn’t really seem possible at first. This was an extremely hard title to find, as it is currently the #1 ranked arcade game in Japan! Due to its popularity overseas, it’s also one of the most expensive. Thank you, Stride!
Released earlier this year, Mobile Suit Gundam vs Gundam N.E.X.T. is the latest title in Namco Bandai’s Gundam VS series, a spiritual successor to the late Virtual On. Like our other Gundam title, N.E.X.T. has 4 fully linked cabinets for a 2-on-2 brawl.
Expect a lot more information about this title (videos, strategy, etc.) as things progress! We’re still learning the game, but Japan is pretty damn good at it now so Youtube ought to have some good examples for us.
Stop by soon and enjoy the ONLY operational Gundam vs Gundam N.E.X.T. in the entire United States!
After winning Save the Arcades, we had a lot of different ideas of things we could do for our community. This one one of the ideas tossed around the most, and we were rather fond of it. What I’m trying to say is . . .
Street Fighter 4, Tekken 6, and Blazblue: Calamity Trigger are now all just 50 cents per play!
